In 1888, Andrea Padova planted an olive tree in our countryside near Ispica to celebrate the birth of his son, Salvatore. That simple gesture marked the beginning of our family’s story as olive growers and millers: the story of Mastri di San Basilio 1888.
Four generations later, we still harvest olives from those same trees and bring them directly to our mill in Pozzallo.

Sicilian summers can reach 37 or 38°C. And heat is one of extra virgin olive oil’s greatest enemies.
That is why we keep our oil in temperature-controlled rooms at 15-17°C, from the moment it is milled until the day it is shipped.
So it stays fresher for longer.
Many oils sold through large retailers take a far longer route: warehouses, transport hubs, distribution centres and months on supermarket shelves, often at room temperature and under artificial light.
The point is simple: when you pick up a bottle in a supermarket, you have no way of knowing how that oil was stored before it reached your table.

Our story
The Padova family has been cultivating the land for generations, a tradition that began when Don Andrea, to celebrate the birth of his son, planted a Moresca olive tree in San Basilio. Today the company is led by Salvatore, who has lovingly cared for his trees and their precious fruit for over forty years.

Delivery can take place within 24 hours under these conditions: orders placed from Monday to Thursday by 12:00 noon are delivered within 24 hours, orders placed after 12:00 are delivered on the next working day. Orders placed on Friday by 12:00 are delivered the following Monday, those placed after 12:00 are delivered the following Tuesday. Orders placed on Saturday and Sunday are delivered the following Tuesday.
Delivery may also be delayed by adverse weather or sea conditions, vehicle breakdowns, or other circumstances genuinely beyond our control. No deliveries are made on national public holidays.
Shipping is free on every order, with no minimum spend.
We take great care in packaging and it is very rare for products to be damaged during transport.
If for some reason one or more packages should arrive damaged at your address, collect only those that are intact and not tampered with, then contact us immediately at info@san-basilio.com and let us know what happened, perhaps by sending us a photo showing the damage.
Our operators will immediately evaluate whether to issue a refund or replacement.
